Below is
a University of California calendar from our intercollegiate sports
grouping. The Golden Bears football team began in 1886 and
became dominant in the 1920's, winning 50 straight games. The

The
campus at Berkeley was the site of the school's first foray
into football with a game that resembled rugby initially.
The Golden Bears became so powerful in the early 1920's that
they were nicknamed 'The Wonder Teams'. The 2013

vintage variety, focusing on those incredible teams.
They were called 'Pappy's Boys' in the 1940's and 1950's
after coach Lynn "Pappy" Waldorf. The University of

school uniforms with leather helmets that would seem
unthinkable in this day and age. Perhaps the Golden
Bears team is most known for the 1982 game against Stanford,
where they succeeded returning a last second kickoff for a
touchdown with the help of five laterals.
