The
Crimson Tide football team was once among the most dominant
programs in all of college football. They began
playing at Harvard Stadium in 1903 and even won the Rose
Bowl in 1920. The 2012 Harvard Crimson Tide calendar
showcases their storied rivalry with Yale, also an elite
program at the time. The cover of this Harvard
football 2012 calendar is the flyer from the November 20th,
1920 game between the two schools. Harvard Stadium
actually played a role in the evolution of the game.
The football field was thought to be needing a wider
surface, but Harvard Stadium could not accommodate that
change. Instead, the forward pass was introduced in
1906 to compensate for the narrower field. |
