The
Cyclones enter the 2012 season with a new head coach in Paul
Rhodes, who hopes to improve upon the 5-19 record of the
previous coach. The football team plays in Jack Trice
Stadium, named in honor of Iowa State's first African
American football player and first fatality related to a
game. The 2012 Iowa State Cyclones calendar comes from
the era in which that death occurred. Tice died as a
result of injuries in a game against Minnesota on October
23, 1923. This pamphlet in the Iowa State Cyclones
2012 football calendar is taken from a 1928 game against
Nebraska, not long after Tice's death. Due to
circumstances surrounding Tice's death, ISU refused to play
Minnesota for the next sixty-five years. The new
coach, Paul Rhodes, was signed to a five year contract in
late 2008. He should have plenty of opportunity to
create a winning program. |
