The Tar
Heels from Chapel Hill are led by Butch Davis and play in
the Atlantic Coast Conference Coastal division. Kenan
Stadium, which opened back in 1927, is where they call home.
The 2012 North Carolina football calendar of course focuses
on the rivalry with the Duke Blue Devils. The Tar
Heels have won thirteen bowl games in their history, with
the first being the Gator Bowl in 1963. North
Carolina's first bowl appearance had been in 1947. The
flyer on the cover of the North Carolina Tar Heels 2012
calendar goes back to a 1932 game with Duke. At that
time the Tar Heels were coached by Chuck Collins.
North Carolina's football squad has struggled in recent
years, but Butch Davis has been able to recruit top-tier
talent. They went to the Meineke Car Care Bowl in 2008
and expect to return this year. |
