|
The
largest organization that guards against abuse of human
rights is none other than Amnesty International. The
non-profit company was established in the United Kingdom in
1961 and has risen to global status in their constant battle
against government torture and other forms of cruelty.
The 2012 Amnesty International calendar focuses on the many
citizens of the world the group has helped over the years.
They were recognized in 1978 with the Nobel Peace Prize for
their work against torture. Salil Shetty is currently
the Secretary General of Amnesty International, having been
appointed in December, 2009. Many of the pages within
the Amnesty International 2012 calendar prove that their
work has been extremely worthwhile as success stories are
evident throughout. More recently, the organization
has tried to bring justice to Israel and the Palestinians by
shedding light on their war crimes. |
