Lunar 2012 Calendars
|
The 5th
largest satellite in our Solar System is the Moon. The
lunar surface is the only place humans have visited other
than Earth, with manned missions from the United States
starting in 1969. The 2012 Lunar calendar features the
celestial body from many angles and colors. The U.S.
completed six manned moon landings from 1969-1972 and
brought home lunar rocks to conduct further research.
However, the moon has not been landed on since the last
mission in 1972 from the Americans. Only unmanned
spacecraft have gone since. Nonetheless, these
pictures from the Lunar 2012 calendar are second to none.
The moon is 1/81 the mass of the Earth and is believed to
have been created 4.5 billion years ago. This estimate
developed from the research of the 380 kilograms of lunar
rocks that were taken. |
