Georgia O'Keeffe was born in 1887 in Wisconsin, and died in 1986. She became one of the most important artists of the 20th century. Georgia O'Keeffe is most well known for her painting of landscapes and flowers. She became a public school teacher in her 20's and by 28, she went on to teach at a college. It was there that Georgia O'Keeffe's artwork was discovered. Her paintings were shown to the owner of an art gallery and he was immediately impressed. He helped Georgia move to New York City to work on her art full time. During that time frame, they fell in love and were married. She lived in New York until her husband died. Georgia O'Keeffe later moved to New Mexico, where she could work on more American West art. |
