is a country with an amazing history and some of the best
cities in the world, including Rome, Venice, and Vatican
City. Rome is the largest city and is home to 2.5
million people, with nearly 4 million people total in the
surrounding areas. Italy's President is Carlo Azeglio
Ciampi. The population of the entire country is over
58 million, which is about 1/5 of the population of the
United States. The currency was
the Italian Lira, but they have switched to the Euro like
many other European countries. Italy covers an area of
just over 300,000 square kilometers, which is ranked the
71st largest in the world. |
