Lord of the Rings - Fellowship of the Ring was produced in 2001 and is the second part in a series of three films. It stars Sean Astin as Sam Gamgee and Noel Appleby as Everard Proudfoot. Lord of the Rings also has performances by Cate Blanchet, Orlando Bloom, and Ian McKellan as Gandalf. The plot involves a group of four hobbits who discover a magical ring that has evil powers. The main character, Frodo, is in possession of the ring, but he must destroy it. He takes the group on an elaborate journey through Middle Earth to throw the ring into the only place it can be destroyed: a massive volcano. However, there are many pitfalls along the way as people try to stop him from accomplishing his mission.
