In 1965, Ford decided to make some major changes to
their Mustang car line. The GT was unveiled
that year with a four barrel engine and 225
horsepower. In two years, Ford produced nearly
1.5 million Mustangs. This two year sales
number became a record that has never been matched
since. Despite massive sales of the basic car,
the GT 500 line was unique and was not introduced
until 1967. It was only produced for four
years and stopped in 1970. Only 1,140 fastbacks and 402 convertibles were made for this specific car.
Since few of this model were ever made, it has
become a collector's item.
