Les Escaliers de Montmartre is an amazingly beautiful location near the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France. In English, this famous photo is called "The Stairs". The photographer of the staircases of Montmartre was Gyula Halasz, who went by the name Brassai. Halasz lived from 1889-1984. He was born in what is now considered Romania, but moved to Paris briefly when he was a very young boy, which is where he settled after becoming an adult. Gyula Halasz is considered one of the best photographers of the 20th century. His fame became worldwide and he would take trips to the United States to display his work. Gyula Halasz also produced a movie that won awards at the Cannes Film Festival and he wrote seventeen books.
