Jacqueline Bouvier was born in July of 1929 in New York. She was born into privilege, as her parents were well connected in the financial community. When she was young, Jackie rode horses and won awards for her skills. She graduated from George Washington University in 1951, but also studied at the Sorbonne in France. Jackie Bouvier married John Kennedy in 1953 at the age of 24. At the time, John Kennedy was a rising star in the Democratic Party. Jackie Kennedy became First Lady when she was just 31 years old when John won the presidency in 1960. She sat right next to him when he was assassinated in Texas in 1963. Five years later, she married Aristotle Onassis in Greece. He passed away in 1975. Her later years were spent in New York. Jackie Kennedy Onassis died in 1994 of cancer. She was just 64. |
