Over the next 18 years, they had four children. Ganhi is most known for his philosophy of non-violence. His influence crossed cultures to America, where the Civil Rights movement was affected by him. Mahatma Gandhi continued to believe that he had nothing to teach the world; that nonviolence and truth were concepts that had been around since the dawn of civilization. Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated in New Delhi, India in 1948 as he was on his way to attend a prayer meeting.
