Perhaps the greatest American civil rights leader that ever lived. Martin Luther King Jr. was born in April of 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia and graduated from Morehouse College with a Bachelor's degree in 1948. He then went on to Boston University, where he received a Ph.D. in 1955. In 1953, Martin Luther King Jr. wed Coretta Scott and in the next ten years, they had four children together. In 1954, Martin Luther King Jr. became a pastor at a church in Alabama. He led marches, activism, and fought for the rights of blacks on many key issues. Martin Luther King's most famous speech is called "I Have a Dream". It is seen in the poster above and is often celebrated on the U.S. holiday that was established in his name. |
