Tiananmen Square Posters

On May 4, 1989, 100,000 peaceful people took to the streets to protesting corruption in government and demanding equal rights.  About two weeks later, the Chinese military decided that force was the way to break up the gathering and they went in and murdered everybody in sight.  They butchered so many, that the act was swiftly condemned by the international community and the Chinese government was viewed in a different light by many.  Estimates vary widely, with some saying as many as 7,000 people were killed.  This famous photograph has been entitled "The Unknown Rebel".  His actions stopped four tanks from proceeding.  To this day, it is not known who he is.
