Another
beer home to Milwaukee, Wisconsin was the Joseph Schlitz
Brewing Company. It was founded in 1850, but did not
become successful until 1871 when the founder donated large
amounts of beer to the citizens of Chicago after their great
fire. Schlitz became a household name in the late 19th
century and well into the 20th century. These Schlitz
t-shirts show the good old days, when the beer was
prominent. Unfortunately, cost cutting led to a bad
tasting product and the company was forced to sell out or
face bankruptcy. It was bought by Stroh Brewing at the
time and now is owned by Pabst Brewing Company out of San
Antonio, Texas. |
