group was active primarily in the early 1990's and hailed from
Seattle. The Alice in Chains t-shirt features one of their

A
powerful grunge rock band that formed in Seattle, Washington
in 1987 was Alice in Chains. Along with Nirvana, they
helped create a new genre of music in the late 1980's and
early 1990's. The original cast was Mike Starr, Layne
Staley, Sean Kinney, and Jerry Cantrell. The Alice in
Chains t-shirt is the symbol often associated with the band.
The group officially broke up in 2002 after the death of
Layne Staley. Alice in Chains was considering a
reunion, but Staley was found dead of a heroin and cocaine
overdose. The popularity of the group continues as can
be seen by the Alice in Chains t-shirts. Three members
of the group reunited in 2005 to perform a benefit concert
in Seattle for the tsunami relief efforts. |
