Grateful Dead T-Shirts

The Grateful Dead was a psychedelic rock group that was formed in San Francisco in 1965. They band stayed together until 1995 when lead singer Jerry Garcia passed away. Their members included Garcia, Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzman, and Vince Welnick. The Grateful Dead was a very unique group. They mixed rock with folk, blues, country, etc. to arrive at their sound. They had a cult following of people that were referred to as Deadheads. The group itself is often called "The Dead". The Grateful Dead were constantly touring and would continue for years on end. The concerts were often considered drug festivals as well. Deadheads that followed the group around were often stoned or high on marijuana, acid, or some other drug. The Grateful Dead t-shirt in the picture shows the letters 'GD' below their signature skeleton. The group did not generate a mainstream hit until Touch of Grey in the 1980's. Until that point, their music was not part of the "top-40" scene. After Jerry Garcia died, the remaining members of Grateful Dead decided to break up.
