Pictured are
two Casper t-shirts from our larger cities within Wyoming grouping.
Situated in the middle of the state, Casper, Wyoming is the second
biggest city in the state with about 53,000 people. The Casper
t-shirts show the letter and the girl.
There
are just a few cities in the sparsely populated state of
Wyoming, but Casper is the second largest next to Cheyenne.
The Vice President of the United States, Richard Cheney is
from this small town as is NBC News reporter Pete Williams.
The Casper t-shirts can also be used to describe Casper the
Friendly Ghost cartoon character. The ghost was
created in the 1940's and was made into a feature film in
1995. The Casper t-shirts would imply the character or
the city. The city was also the site an of anti-gay
hate crime in 1998 that received national attention.
Seven years later, an openly gay man, Guy V. Padgett III was
elected mayor of Casper. He became the first openly
homosexual person to become an elected representative in the
city.
