Even
though it is well inland from the Gulf of Mexico,
Hattiesburg, Mississippi changed dramatically as a result of
Hurricane Katrina. The hurricane itself experienced
extensive damage, but the population of the city increased
by over 12,000 as evacuees from harder hit areas sought
refuge here. These Hattiesburg t-shirts show pride,
especially in light of the people taking in others in need
during that awful time. The city was founded in 1882
and is part of both Forrest and Lamar County. The
women in the Hattiesburg t-shirts are true to form for this
traditional area. In the aftermath of Hurricane
Katrina, it was discovered that ten thousand buildings had
major damage in Hattiesburg, Mississippi and twenty four
people died. However, the townspeople were able to
come together and rebuild this great community. |
