Saloon owner George Stevens founded the tiny city of Stevens Point,
Wisconsin in 1858. It is home to 25,000. The Stevens

Portage
County is the spot in central Wisconsin for the town of
Stevens Point. It is called the "Gateway to the
Pineries" and was named after a local saloon owner from the
1850's. The Stevens Point t-shirts show the same
design in two different sizes on a men's and women's style.

community and all the landmarks around town. A branch
of the University of Wisconsin is here and specializes in
natural resources and forestry degrees. It is quite a
few miles from Stevens Point, Wisconsin to the other major
cities in the state. Madison is a good 110 miles south
